Swinehart convicted of two counts of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation of a child under 12 years of age

 

PALATKA – Yesterday, a Putnam County jury deliberated for 3 hours before convicting William Ray Swinehart, 53, of two counts of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation of a child under 12 years of age. Swinehart will be sentenced at a hearing on September 4th at 9am by Judge Howard O. McGillin, Jr. For these offenses, there is a 25-year minimum mandatory prison sentence with a maximum penalty of life in prison.

Between March 1, 2018 and September 6, 2018, Swinehart touched the child’s genitals and buttocks repeatedly. The child Victim courageously disclosed this to a family member—who subsequently disclosed to law enforcement.

Assistant State Attorney Jonathan Gless prosecuted the case and Judge McGillin presided over the case.
