Case Number: 2021 101731 CFDL
Volusia County Defendant Convicted for Possessing Dozens of Child Pornography Files
DELAND – After a one-day trial and only 17 minutes of deliberation this afternoon, a Volusia County jury found defendant Nash Sloan guilty as charged of 40 counts of Possession of Sexual Performance by a Child (Enhanced).
In April 2021, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office began an investigation after receiving a tip about possible child pornography on the internet from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Detectives followed up on the tip by executing a search warrant at the defendant’s home, where they discovered even more files of child pornography than were originally flagged.
The case was investigated by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Child Exploitation and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. Assistant State Attorney Megan Upchurch successfully tried the case for the state. The Honorable Randell Rowe III presided over the case and will pronounce sentence at a later date. Sloan faces up to life in prison for the crimes.
