Welaka Man Indicted on First-Degree Murder

PALATKA – The Putnam County Grand Jury heard the case of Peter Hamilton today. The defendant is accused of shooting his wife in the back outside of their Welaka home on November 1, 2023. The victim died from her injuries at the scene.

The indictment was handed down on Friday morning. Hamilton was charged with First-Degree Murder (Firearm).

The case was investigated by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant State Attorney Jennifer Dunton will prosecute the case for the state.
