State of Florida v. Donald Johnston
DOB: 12/20/1952
Clerk Number: 2019 302768 CFDB
Johnston sentenced to three life sentences for multiple sex crimes
DAYTONA – This morning, a Port Orange man was sentenced to three concurrent terms of life in prison for two counts of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation of a Minor—which are life felonies—and one count of Sexual Battery on a Minor—a capital felony. The sentence was rendered by Circuit Judge Matthew M. Foxman.
In 2019, the child victims courageously came forward with information that Johnston had repeatedly rubbed their arms, legs, breasts, and genitalia. When law enforcement interviewed Johnston, he admitted to doing so as well as engaging in oral sex with one of the child victims.
Assistant State Attorney Ashley Terwilleger prosecuted the case and Judge Foxman presided over the case.
R.J. Larizza had the following to say after the sentence was announced: “The defendant was in a position of trust with our child Victims. The defendant used the Victims’ vulnerability to sexually abuse them. It is my hope that this lifelong sentence will bring some sense of relief to the Victims and their family.”
