Rutherford Sentenced to 70 Years in Prison for Child Sex Abuse

DELAND – During a hearing this afternoon, 52-year-old defendant Shane Rutherford was sentenced to 70 years in prison followed by lifetime sex offender probation. Rutherford pled guilty in October to four counts of Sexual Battery on a Minor and Child Abuse.

The case was investigated by the Port Orange Police Department. Assistant State Attorney Kevin Sullivan successfully prosecuted the case for the state. The Honorable Raul Zambrano presided over the case and the Honorable Dawn Nichols pronounced sentence.
